Guitar wiring and pickups question?
can i take my single coil pickup guitar and replace the bridge and neck pickups with double coils
and apply Jimmy page wiring

Yes you can always replace single coils with humbuckers, i replaced the bridge on my strat. The jimmy wiring technique will work. The middle pickup you can geither keep as a single coil (will give your guitar a more diverse/range of sounds/tones) or make all 3 humbuckers to give your guitar a real fat/full tone and will deal with distortion really well. Personally i would keep it as a single coil.
You can also change any pickup for an active one. I would recommend changing the bridge for an active one, as active pickups work in the same way as humbuckers, in that they have a double coil. Also in the bridge position, the active would be the most effective/efficient.
As with jimmys guitar, im gonna be honest and say i don't know. It could be another 3 way switch so that he can configure his pickups in more different ways. Or it could be to do with a tone control (kinda like brian mays guitar with the phase reversal switch). Im sure you can find that info somewhere. Apart from that im sorry i can't give anymore info.
