How do I record and make drum covers with an electronic drum kit?
So I've had no experience whatsoever with recording drums or anything of the sort. I have a roland HD-1 drum set and a macbook pro and I want to record myself doing drum covers of different songs on youtube. However, how do I record myself playing the drums while recording the sounds straight onto the computer and how do I mix in the music to do the cover?
You need to get a splitter for your headphone jack (it's probably 1/4 inch). On one, your headphones should go in, on the other you should plug in a 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch converter and then an 1/8 inch to 1/8 inch which will go into the mic slot of your mac (next to the headphone jack). If you're using garage band you have to go into your mac settings and change the sound from built in mic to line. Then just record in garage band. Slightly confusing, but radio shack can help you out.
