Edge Iii Bridge
Edge III tremelo(in need help)?
I just got an Ibanez RG4EXFM(equipped with edge III)
and Im having a problem keeping it in tune when I move the tremelo arm up and down even though the nut locks are firmly screwed in and the bridge is parallel with the body.
Help?
Sounds like something might be binding and preventing the bar from returning to "zero", either that or the strings aren't broken in and stretched yet (since you said you just got the guitar). Before you go crazy making adjustments I would make sure it's not a case of brand new strings.
To do this make sure the trem angle is flat with the body, then you can remove the back plate of the guitar to gain acces to the underside of the trem, you'll want to block it off...so that way there's no travel (just like you're playing a fixed bridge). You can do this by sticking some lego blocks on there, or a wooden shim so the trem can't move.
Once you've got the trem blocked off go ahead and tune your guitar to pitch and really play it for a day and give it a work out, bend those strings like mad!
From there take the block out and see if your trem's any more stable...if not check out some of the resources here:
