Footswitch Mesa
any suggestions on a good distortion pedal for progressive metal to thrash?
I am playing through a Marshall JMP-1 using the Mesa Boogie Simul Class 295 and 400 watt Carvin 4x12 cab. I do not have a midi footswitch for the JMP-1 but I do have teh Rolls midi controller which I have no frekin idea how to use it with the JMP1 yet, the switch might be busted so I am turning to geting a distortion pedal. can anyone offer any suggestions? At times my amp when turned up tends to sound tired or muddied, maybes its just the noise from the drums also because my amp is right next to the drums. I play with an Ibanez SG something with the Dunlop Detonator humbucker at the bridge. I'd like a nice cutting distortion but meaty at least. So far I love the metal zone but its seems too death like, I am playing in the likes like Deftones and Pantera.
The Zakk Wylde overdrive is pretty good. You can cut it back to get a nice crunchy tone or crank it up for heavy distortion and lots of harmonics. I always go back to that pedal because it's so damn versatile. Give it a try, you'll like it.
