EMG 81 set Vs. Gibson 57 Classic Humbucker and Gibson BurstBucker Pro Humbucker Pickup???
I am confused about whether I should replace my EMG 81 pickup set with a Gibson 57 Classic Humbucker and Gibson BurstBucker Pro Humbucker Pickup, I am not even sure if I can apply them on my guitar, the following is some of the main things that I would like the pickups to be compatible with
-My Guitar: ESP LTD Ax-400

-The Music I ussually play: Neo-psychedelic rock, Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, and Rock 'n' Roll in general.
-Artists I am influenced by and like to play: Wolfmother, Metallica, AC/DC, Linkin Park, Incubus, Led Zeppilin Jimi Hendrix, Marylin Manson, Motorhead, and System of a Down (These artist were NOT arranged by there level of how much I like them).
-I am the lead guitarist in a neo-psychedlic and old school rock band (We are not old school, our tastes are).
And if there is any other pick up that would be more compatible with the previous feel free to add it to your answer please.
Need to now more info about the problems that you are having with the pick ups. But for the most part if you are not running on a dead battery in your guitar, what you need to add to your rig is a good 10 to 15 band EQ, not a pedal version a rack mounted full spectrum version, that will clear up 95% of the problems that you are having with this pick ups. As well EMG 81's work best with a tube driven amp's the larger the better. Now unfortunetly the guitar you bought is an all mohogany body guitar, mohog give you best low to mid response of all the woods at the expense of the high's, but the 81's will, since there active pick ups, composate a bit for that fact. Les pauls have a Maple top which gives them that heavy feel and the screaming high's, an active set give's you the Zak Wylde sound from the Ozzy years. If you were to change your pick ups to a passive set, find a set that brings out the high's more, the brustbucker would be the best of the one's you mentioned, but I would stay with an active set, Seymor Duncan make the Dave Mustain Live Wire set that wuold work get for your guitar. As well if you did go to a passive set of pick up you would be removing hardware and making you guitar lighter, which shouldn't be a problem right now becauseof your mohog body. As I said earlier don't waste your money on a new set on pick ups take the $200 a buy a Behringer FBQ3102 Ultragraph PRO EQ, or a Behringer ULTRAGRAPH PRO FBQ1502 EQ with Feedback Detection there cheep and they will do more for you then a pickup ever will
