carvin international overpricing?

Last week I ws happily going to go to carvin.com to buy V3M/V3 amp, after hearing its awesomeness and everyone ssaying it only cost 600 bucks. Im from puerto rico, and carvin threw me to carvinworld.com(international site) and I check out the amps and they were 1138(V3M) and 1457(V3). If US and Canada get the V3M for 600, why does puerto rico(part of US) and the rest of the world get charged an extra 90%. I know some places have hefty import fees and stuff, but 90% is ripoff, and puerto rico doesnt even have different prices for import fees and stuff since its the exact same system as the US, the only extra payment Id have to make is shipping.

Why is Carvin overpricing their stuff? The used to be so awesome...

And this includes everything on the site, I still cant believe that this company who was known for the great prices is selling every guitar in the arsenal at higher prices than Gibson...

I don't think you understand how music equipment is sold. The list price on the Carvin the new V3M Micro Series V3M tube head amplifier (seen here below the V3MC) http://www.carvinguitars.com/guitaramps/v3microseries.php is $1099 (not $600). The normal discounted price which you can buy for within the Continental US (not including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, etc.) is $699 if you buy it directly from Carvin. Currently they are having a sale and the price for the Continental US direct, is $599. Buying one from anywhere outside the US is going to be a different price because of shipping & handling and and export/import fees and the dealer is going to mark it up for profit also. That's just life in the music business. Everyone wants their piece of the pie. If you lived in California and walked into the showroom, you could buy one for $599. If you lived in Florida, you could buy one for $599 + shipping and handling. It's not Carvin who is controlling the price. It's the middleman's profit that marks it up. Hope that clears it up for you.

By-the-way, that price is only for the amp head. You would still need a compatible speaker cabinet to hook it up to and it would have to meet the specs for impedance or you could damage the speakers if it does not match up correctly. That is also for a 50 watt amplifier. There are less expensive 100 and 150 watt amplifiers available. Personally I play though a 500 watt per channel stereo power amplifier (two clean channels - $400) and all of my sound comes from a BOSS GT-10 guitar effects processor ($500). For speakers, I have twin JBL JRX115 speakers cabinets ($275 each) and the sound I get according to guitar players in the audience who are always asking about my amplifier and effects, it totally awesome. So, it's going to cost you for the right sound. But, if you shop around and listen to a lot of equipment, you can find that perfectly unique sound for you that is less expensive and sounds way better than buying any top of the line guitar amplifier. Just a thought!
