Ibanez Edge Iii
I have an ibanez 350dx with an edge III tremolo, i wanna switch it out for an Original Floyd Rose?
I don't know if its possible to just switch it out or if i need to do anything further to the guitar such as making the cavity bigger or whatnot.I've looked up information online but no good information, just bits and pieces. Anyone know how to go about doing this?
The OFR fits perfectly in the body of the RG350DX; I own a RG350DX myself and I hate the Edge III system as well.
I researched this earlier and it is quite costly to do, it will run you about as much as buying a brand new RG350DX, pain; I know.
To switch it out yourself there's a couple of things you'll need to note. The screw and nut holes for the two trems are different, and placing is a serious problem. I would suggest getting it done professionally, or at least take it to someone who has an OFR to see what it looks like installed.
Wiring might also be a problem, but I can't remember precisely; I'll take a look at my Ibanez in the morning and get back to you.
