Lace Sensor Strat
Are humbucker pickups producing the Blues high bright pushed tone or amp?
I'm stymied by how Blues artists get that beautiful high bright clean tone? I saw Eddie "The Chief" Clearwater (played a Gibson) this weekend at Legends and was wondering. Sammy Fender (played a Fender Strat with humbuckers) before Eddie with nearly the same results. They both played through a Fender Reverb amp on stage. Is this the amp tone, guitar, or both? Is it specific to humbucker pickups? I have a hard time reproducing this with my gold lace sensor pickups. Is there some secret here to getting this tone? If so, what is it?
I play through a berhinger,Vampyre,half stack, Also my 91 strat.It was easy to get that tone your talking about but its also how you play.Not just the equipment. But that is my opinion.I use my neck pick up,for rhythem and lead but I like that creamy sound for rythem.Its fat.I also have a seperate channel I use for lead.Super clean, with gain and compresser. does the trick for me.also just a little reverb. I have gotten a lot of compliments on my tone from other players. But I know that what I hear on stage isn,t what you hear out front.Sometimes I thought I had a killer tone.But it sounded like shit to the folks out front.But I swapped out my stock pickups right after i bought my strat.Went to Seymour duncans.plus a dimarzio super distortion in the rear position. I play classic rock and blues this combo works well for me. Probly not much help with your dilema. I have been playing for thirty years.We do about a 150 gigs a year.Play in a band called Blondie and The dirty Dagwoods.
