Best combo amp for metal fender or marshall?
ok i was thinking of getting either this marshall http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Marshall-MG100DFX-Combo-?sku=483190
or this fender http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Frontman-212R-100W-2x12-Guitar-Combo-Amp?sku=481601
i like to play metal. and i use a pedal for metal but i still want some effects on it like delay and stuff. but i wouldnt mind THAT much if it didnt have.
but if the amp distortion is good i might just use that.
i also want it to be loud so i can play it at like gigs and hear it over drums.
so which amp is better?
The MG will give you a metal sound right out of the box. As the other answerer mentioned, though, Marshall isn't known for their clean sounds.
I don't like the tone of the Fender so much, it's not my thing, but it's important to recognize that you will definitely need pedals, etc if you want to get an aggressive tone with it.
I haven't heard of that particular Ibanez amp, but it looks vaguely interesting. I wouldn't look into it, though - I have no need for 150 watts!
If you're going to be mic'd you don't need more than 40-60 at the most. If you aren't, you still don't need even 100w.... you do need two or more speakers for that, though.
I would focus on getting a 2x12 amp. Play the Fender, but don't limit yourself, keep your mind open.
I really like the sound of the MG 50 watt combo.... but again, a 1x12 may already be pretty loud, but 2 speakers will help push the sound out.
