My Peavey JSX guitar amp makes a roaring noise when I strum E , A, D strings on heavy distortion?
I have a Peavey JSX head running into a 2x12 cabinet on my gibson SG special with 490R pickups.
Now when I put the amp to ultra and run about an 8 on treb 2 on mids, and 8 on bass and gain, and I believe my res is about 3 and pres is on 6.5. I get a horrible roaring noise right when I strum on EAD, and for half a second the roar is disgustinly loud, now I can do this same setup at guitar center and the amp sounds fine there, is this a crummy cabinet that I have or is my amp due for some servicing?
Any suggestions?
Most likely the cabinet.
