Strat Guitar Volume
Which guitar for alternative rock/grunge? SG vs Strat?
I am debating between an Epiphone SG-400 (negative series exclusive to canada) or a MIM Fender Standard Stratocaster. My sound is very much like nirvana and smashing pumpkins. I know Billy Corgan plays a strat mainly, but he also uses sg's. Kurt Cobain also was a strat user but he also used jaguars (jag is not in my budget). My personal music ranges from punchy grunge to melancholy. I have played both and both are equally good in my opinion, although I hate the volume knob placement on the strat. I just need some people who own 1 or both's opinion and input. Thanks.

For that type of music go for the strat.
Why don't you just do yourself a favor and get the Ibanez that has 2 humbeckckers with one jazz pickup as well to really get all the sounds you need and the price is right for whole thing 199 !
I have them all and the last one provides all the sound esp. for my Nirvana and Zeppelin to R&B.
