What speakers should I use to replace the stock speakers in a Fender Blues Deville 410 reissue?
I am trying to make this amp sound as pretty as it can be. I have already severely modded the inside of the sucker and corrected some things I didn't like about it. It's too loud of an amp for any of my purposes because it usually gets mic'd and its way too loud for home practice. I am putting THD YellowJackets in it, as well as getting an attenuator. Just a little background on whats different than a stock version.
It has 4x10" speakers (those blue ones...). Anyways, I would like speakers that have good all around frequency response. I want them to be nice and sparkly top end wise, but have really clear and present bass as well. Any thoughts on speakers? Right now I'm thinking some sort of celestion, but I don't really know what to get. What have some of you used in your amps and what did you like about them?
You might give Weber C12B's a look. They're excellent speaker if they give the tone you're looking for. Eminence speakers are great too. Jensen's and Celestion's are pretty good, but I think they Weber's are a step up from them. Personally, I'd upgrade to 12" speakers if it were my amp (and I didn't have to carry it around much). Not sure with that amp if there's room for 4 12's but I'd personally rather have 2 12's than 4 10's in my amp. It's all a matter of personal preference though, but Weber makes great speakers.
